All the worries

Become so many stories

Confusing at the front

Hope in the back

I lay down

And my heart is down

Adjusting to the new reality

When will I fully feel normal

For now I turn the pages

Looking for a page with words

Emptiness eats me alive

But it’s too cold to dig my grave

The days get colder

The days get shorter

Life gets longer

Life gets faster

School

Work

MyGirl

Birthday

Anniversary

Christmas

Sports

I think of all those events on the way

By the time I finish thinking

Sun is down and soon a new day to begin

I wake up not feeling sleepy

But feeling alive

Because there’s you

The light at the end of the tunnel

The fire that keeps me going

The reason to get through the week

Whatever cute thing I say about you

Just know the cutest thing I can say is

You are so cute in all your cute ways

Her bottom lip dropped as she smeared mascara on her upper lashes

She had a thousand imperfections and make up did the trick

Of course she had to hide most of her natural beauty because that’s what the men preferred

The mirror portrayed a beautiful woman, hopefully the guys saw more than just lust

She put on her barely covering stockings and bedazzled bra, taking one last look in the mirror

She was set to have a great night in town

But just the thought of having to twirl herself around and shake her booty for some dollar bills was sickening

Guys drooling, bulges, dirty looks, smacks, touching, filthiness, all done by pathetic losers and not her husband

But he’s been gone for months; seems to have bought a one way ticket out of crazy town

By the nights end she would be exhausted just to return to the small apartment that she could barely afford in the first place

With her child gone there was no point in keeping up with the cleaning either

So with that in mind she left her apartment that evening in hopes of a better life

Took one last look around, scoffing as she turned off the lights not even bothering to lock the door

She bought herself a one way ticket out

You break the bottle without a drop of alcohol staining the carpet

Laughs, giggles, smirks, dumb sentence follows your lips

Blood flow increases, my eyes narrow, clinched, ready

An act of a lifetime starts, swooping down to steal my anger

And like always I look the other way

And the next morning when I wake up alone

I ask myself

What’s worse, the fact she breaks wine bottles without a drop,

Or the fact that she’s so far gone?

Either way my carpet isn’t getting destroyed, but I am

Whether I know it or not, slowly, each drop, each sip…

Define the definition of defiantly.
