Walk a mile in my shoes

Bring me the needle

Not to get high

But to survive from my disease

Walk a mile in my shoes

Teach me how to fight like a man

Not so I can be a cool kid

So I can fight off the bullies

Walk a mile in my shoes

I need a better job

Not to make myself happier

But to help my jobless mom

Walk a mile in my shoes

Show me how to love

Not because I like her

But because we have a child now

I am an incomplete book

Still being written every second

Every page being evaluated by others

Please read my entire story

Not just a sliver of a page, but the whole book

Walk a mile in my shoes

Helpless

I dig for that one thing
That one thing you don’t even really understand
Yet it calls you and you call back
It’s the calling for something even greater
A burning so deep in you that you loose control
It has you by the hand gently
Soon it grabs both shoulders
All of a sudden it has you around the neck
All you can do is obey
Do it again, you say yes
Again, you say yes again
Visit family today, your neck won’t let you
Soon it is just you and it around your neck
The addiction is in full swing

The clock says to sleep

My brain disagrees with that

I took sleeping pill

Cat sleeping on bed

TV’s glow lighting my food

Middle of the night

Returning to bed

Cat sleeping in the middle

I curl up elsewhere

Middle of the night

I long to express my thoughts

Haiku is lurking

Still dark around here

Haiku unavoidable

Your fault, dear sweet son

Eyelids dropping down

Sleep may finally arrive

Advil is working

I know what you’re thinking

And that won’t stop me from destroying myself

It is really all I can do now

And you are still standing by my side

You are the confused one

Not me

This is how I find my peace

High flying cats

Even cats sometimes get high. Catnip = stoned.
